WCW Participates in EPA Tour Celebrating Clean Water Act

WCW was honored to be part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) tour last Friday celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act! The Act has been instrumental in controlling pollution and maintaining water quality across the country and locally. WCW completed several construction projects in the late 1970s and early 1980s that were supported by clean water grants to build much of the existing Water Quality and Resource Recovery Plant (WQRRP). WCW Joins Coalition to Urge Wipes Manufacturers to Properly Label Products

WCW has joined with 43 other Sanitation Districts and environmental groups to send a letter to the manufacturers of wipes (baby wipes, disinfectant wipes, etc.) urging them to label their products truthfully and correctly. WCW's Environmental Services Manager, Joe Neugebauer, had this to say about the effort, “These products foul our pumps and other critical equipment, and it is time for manufacturers of wipes to do their part by following through on the requests in this letter. No consumer should be confused about how to dispose of any product, especially a single-use product that has severe consequences when disposed of [...]

Originally created to honor George Washington and later Abraham Lincoln, what we now know as Presidents’ Day honors those elected to the highest office in the United States. Born on February 22, 1731, Washington served as the first U.S. president. Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, and served during the Civil War, which resulted in an end to slavery in the United States.
