Originating in 1985, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month has grown substantially over nearly four decades, gaining momentum into a world-recognized cause.
West County Wastewater (WCW), which is an industry leader in hiring women employees, understands the impact breast cancer can have on women and their loved ones. As one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers and the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the United States, breast cancer awareness is imperative for the health and protection of our community.
Breast cancer affects both men and women, and women age 50 and older are at greatest risk – even without family history of the disease. WCW encourages routine mammograms, which are the single most effective method for detecting breast changes.
We invite the community to join us in the fight against breast cancer by wearing pink, supporting research, and urging loved ones to get mammograms in hopes of defeating this deadly disease.
